Plywood with poplar inner layer and okoumè outer layers. Okoumè is an African wood with moderate dimensional stability, flexible and known for its lightness; it is the most water-repellent wood so it is not attacked by mold and woodworms.
Description
What is it?
Plywood with inner layer in poplar and external layers in okoumè.
Okoumé plywood is a lightweight, strong and durable material suitable for exterior and interior applications. It is composed of layers of okoumé wood, a tropical species native to Africa, glued together with a class 3 phenolic or melamine glue that complies with EN 314 and UNI 6478 / 69 standards. Okoumé plywood has a light pinkish color that darkens with time, and a slightly wavy grain that gives it a natural and pleasing appearance.
Okoumé plywood has excellent mechanical properties, such as flexural strength, tensile strength, compressive strength and shear strength. It also has good fire resistance, with a D-s2,d0 rating according to EN 13501-1, and low thermal conductivity, of about 0.16 W/m K. Okoumé plywood has a moisture content of 8% to 12%, and an average density of about 400 kg/m3.
Okoumé plywood is ideal for making doors, windows, furniture, flooring, paneling, boats, bodies, crates, packaging and more.
